Surantha Rupasingha
Surantha started his career as a Chef in Sri Lanka training for 3 years where he discovered the love of art and pastry. Having worked in a number of 5 star hotels in Sri Lanka he moved to Dubai where he began developing his talents and entering competitions and designing cakes. Over his career Surantha has travelled the world looking to find new experiences and inspiration in the world of pastry, cakes, desserts and savoury snacks.
Since starting out Surantha has trained and worked with chefs from Italy, France and other countries and now has begun his dream to open a school for pastry in the UK. Since being in the UK Surantha has worked in a number of pastry schools and in March 2019 decided to open Surantha Patisserie based in Stourbridge. Surantha is continuing to win medals and participating in professional pastry competitions where has won Gold for his amazing Sugar Sculptures.
For the future Surantha aims to open up a school teaching pastry cooking and baking to an exceptionally high standard. In the meantime you can meet Surantha at Surantha Patisserie on Stourbridge High Street. In July 2019 we won the Best Coffee Shop award at the Birmingham Prestige Awards for our amazing displays, friendliness and cleanliness of the premises.
